We've all Been There

WHAT WOULD YOU DO IN THESE SITUATIONS?
HOW WOULD YOU FEEL?

A) “You are an elderly woman driving a Mercedes through the Australian outback in the middle of nowhere. You realise that one of your tyres is flat. You stop the car and ring for assistance, but there is no cover so you wait inside your car. Suddenly, a Ford pick-up truck pulls up behind you; a large muscular man covered in tattoos gets out of the truck and walks towards you.”

B) “You are a young 8-month pregnant woman who has just arrived at the restaurant where you work as a waitress. You have just received a letter from your landlord informing you that you owe $800 in rent; if you don’t pay this money you will be evicted from your house. You ask your boss for extra work so you can pay the rent, but your boss is really rude to you and refuses to give you any extra work.”

ALCINE FILM FESTIVAL

Alcalá de Henares is hosting a new edition of its short film festival,ALCINE.

The festival has been held since 1983 and has served to launch the careers of some of Spain’s most important directors, such as Alejandro Amenábar, Isabel Coixet and Fernando León de Aranoa. EUROPE DAY 2017

Peace and solidarity were the pillars of Robert Schuman’s 1950 declaration, which he presented on 9 May 1950. He proposed that France and Germany share their natural resources in a bid to make conflict between the countries ‘not merely unthinkable, but materially impossible’. Other European nations joined the endeavour, which made European cooperation a reality.

Sixty-seven years later, we remember and celebrate this founding act by opening the doors of the European Parliament and welcoming citizens to the heart of European democracy.
