IMPROVE YOUR WRITING






Writing exams can sometimes be scary. You’re sitting down, the exam has started and you have the exam paper. Now what? The first thing is not to worry! You have some tips and advice below which will help you to plan, write and review your writing task in an exam.

When you are in a writing exam you shouldn't start writing immediately. You must think about the following questions and then plan your time carefully.
How much time do you have for the writing exam?
How many writing tasks do you have to do?

When you know the answer to these two questions you should divide your time into three parts:
Part 1 – Planning time
Part 2 – Writing time
Part 3 – Reviewing time

PAST SIMPLE vs. PRESENT PERFECT

Here you can practise the difference between present perfect simple and past simple tenses by playing some games. The first game is called Fling the teacher and you have to choose the correct option 15 times to win the game. You have to choose between present perfect simple and past simple tense. Good luck.

FAREWELL, MADIBA


  • Why is Nelson Mandela famous?
    A leader of his people
    Nelson Mandela was the first black President of South Africa. He spent 27 years in prison for trying to overthrow the pro-apartheid government. After he left prison, he worked to achieve human rights and a better future for everyone in South Africa.
    When did he live?
    Nelson Mandela was born in 1918. He was in prison from 1962 to 1990. He became President of South Africa in 1994, and retired in 1999. Nelson Mandela died on 5th December 2013 following a lung illness.
    Why is he famous?
    Nelson Mandela became famous for his long fight against bad government and racial prejudice. He became a hero to people all over the world. As South Africa's President, he was respected for his courage and wisdom in bringing people together to live in peace.

    HE WAS A MAN THAT REALLY MADE A DIFFERENCE!

    4. Finally, listen to the song by U2: they pay tribute to Nelson Mandela with their song "Ordinary Love":
    For the movie "Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom," U2 has contributed the song "Ordinary Love” to the soundtrack, which speaks to the complicated love story between Nelson and his wife, Winnie Mandela. They were two people who gave up their ordinary lives and their chance for an ordinary love.
